i remember working on a project in cakewalk pro audio 9, with like, 10+ digital audio tracks, and there were times that when i playback, it would stop, citing dropouts.

my rig's a P3-733 with an sblive, 384mb ram, scsi hard drive - i don't know if anything else is pertinent here, but i was just wondering if anyone has an idea what happened then...

Usually, the dropouts I get are due to
    1. too much other crap going on (lack of free resources)
    2. My SB Live soundcard.

I currently use a SB Live, and will not get another one for digital audio. General multimedia, they work fine for, but not DA.
