Not long ago rumors surrounding the BlackBerry PlayBook 4G LTE and its release date have surfaced, claiming that the device in question will be available for purchase at Bell on July 31st. Despite the fact that the purported release date turned out not to be the real one, those of you willing to buy the 4G LTE capable PlayBook will be pleased to learn that the device in question received an official release date.

According to Thorsten Heins the CEO at RIM, the BlackBerry PlayBook 4G LTE will be available for purchase in Canada from Bell, Rogers and TELUS starting with August 9. No exact information has been given concerning the tablet's launch on an international level, but Heins did mention that they are planning on launching the tablet in regions all around the world in the coming months.

As to what the tablet has to offer, well it clearly offers 4G LTE connectivity but it also comes with a new CPU when compared to the Wi-Fi-only version launched some time ago. The new chip is a dual-core processor running at 1.5 GHz which will definitely make things more interesting.

In addition, OS 2.1 is expected to hit the waves next year so although the BlackBerry PlayBook 4G LTE will come with OS 2.0 at first, the upcoming 2.1 is something to consider.

Last but not least, the price. Unfortunately nothing official has been announced concerning the matter but word around the campfire is that the 4G LTE capable PlayBook will set you back $550.

Will you buy a PlayBook 4G LTE once it hits the market on August 9?
