Earlier this year, BlackBerry has launched two new smartphones that are being powered by the brand new BB 10 OS platform. These gadgets are the full-touch Z10, and the QWERTY Q10. Both handsets have been retailed as flagship phones (despite their not-so top-tier hardware specs), but these two handsets are not going to be the only ones coming out of the company's factory gates. The recently announced BlackBerry Q5 will also hit the shelves soon, and as its name suggests, this particular device sits in the mid-range market segment.

The Canadian manufacturer has just announced that the Q5 will go on sale in Canada starting with August 13. In terms of availability, the gadget will hit the shelves of multiple retailers and carriers, including Bell, Fido, Sasktel, TELUS, Koodo, Virgin Mobile, Best Buy Canada, Future Shop, TBooth Wireless, Target, The Mobile Shop, Walmart, The Source and WIRELESSWAVE. Interestingly enough, Rogers did not make the list.

As for the handset's availability in the US, nothing official has been unveiled so far, but famous leaker @evleaks suggests that AT&T will definitely be one of the carriers to release the Q5 State-side.

In case you're wondering what the BlackBerry Q5 is capable of, then what you'll get is a 3.1 inch IPS LCD display with a resolution of 720 x 720 and a pixel density of 328 ppi, a Snapdragon dual-core processor clocked at 1.2 GHz, 2 GB of RAM, 8 GB of storage expandable by up to 32 GB via microSD, a 5 MP main camera complemented by a 2 MP secondary sensor, BlackBerry 10 OS out of the box upgradable to version 10.1 and a 2,180 mAh battery.

Are any of you planning on picking the BlackBerry Q5 up once it goes on sale in Canada? Or are you waiting for it to arrive at AT&T?
