We haven't heard a lot from BlackBerry lately, other than the fact that the BlackBerry Messenger app for iOS and Android kept eluding us for many weeks. Nevertheless, the Canadian manufacturer broke the silence today, as it announced a new flagship full-touch smartphone dubbed the BlackBerry Z30.

It appears that BB is not willing to give up the fight, despite the fact that the majority of Android smartphone giants have recently brought the big guns. Apple is also expected to release the new iPhone line-up in a couple of days from now, and yes, BlackBerry enthusiasts will get some love too.

Spec-wise, the BlackBerry Z30 packs a 5.0 inch display with a resolution of 720 x 1280 and a pixel density of 294 ppi, a Snapdragon S4 Pro dual-core processor clocked at 1.7 GHz, an Adreno 320 graphics chip, 2 GB of RAM, 16 GB of internal storage expandable by up to 64 GB via microSD, an 8 MP main camera complemented by a 2 MP front-facing sensor, and a 2,880 mAh battery.

In terms of software, the Z30 will arrive with the new BlackBerry 10.2 OS, which will bring a handful of new features such as the Priority Hub (a system where all of your notifications and communications across various services will be centralized), and system-wide chat notifications. In addition, the BB Z30 features three speakers and a feature called "Natural Sound" which –when combined- is supposedly able to offer more natural-sounding conversations over BBM Voice and BBM Video.

Last but not least, we should also talk a bit about availability / release date and price. The handset will be available for purchase from a wide range of carriers and retailers all over the world. The handset will also hit the market in the UK and the Middle East. While the launch date will vary depending on the region, the device will go on sale in Malaysia and Hong Kong on October 5, at the price of around $620.

That's all for now, but more details about availability and price in other regions should surface within the next several weeks. Until then, don't hesitate to leave a comment below and let us know whether or not you'd be interested in purchasing this device.
