You may not be too familiar with Vivo, but this particular smartphone manufacturer has managed to steal the spotlight a few times already, thanks to its upcoming Xplay 3S smartphone that promises next-gen hardware specifications.

During these past several weeks, there have been quite a lot of leaked photos depicting the Xplay 3S prototype and even the alleged real deal. However, the latest leak comes directly from Vivo, who has recently posted an image with what appears to be the back panel of the Xplay 3S (image above). Of course, the device is just a render, it might not reflect the final design, and it's heavily obscured, so it's more of a tease than anything else.

The interesting bit however, is the fact that, hidden behind the shadows – right underneath the camera – resides something that resembles a fingerprint scanner. As such, it appears that Vivo might have joined the fingerprint scanning madness as well. As predicted, we'll get to see more and more of this technology in future flagship devices.

There are, however, a couple of other theories, suggesting that what we're seeing on the back panel of the device might very well be a physical button a la LG G2. Either that, or it might be a touch-sensitive area. Who knows?! For now however, the fingerprint scanner seems to be the most believable theory.

The presence of a fingerprint scanner on the Xplay 3S shouldn't come as a surprise, given the handset's alleged specifications. The 3S is supposed to be a cutting-edge flagship device, equipped with a Snapdragon 800 processor and 3 GB of RAM. Rumors have it that the device will feature a 13 MP main camera, complemented by a 5 MP secondary sensor, and that it will pack a 3,000 mAh battery. More impressively, the gadget is said to deliver a display featuring a resolution of 1440 x 2560. This panel might be one of the two displays that have been recently unveiled by Japan Display, or it could be the screen unveiled by LG. However, since there are rumors that the Xplayu 3S' screen diagonal will be fixed at 5.7 inches, then this is most likely a brand new panel that we've never heard of before.

That's pretty much it for now, but as the days go by, we're bound to learn more and more about the mysterious Vivo Xplay 3S.
