Verizon has recently announced a brand new smartphone that will be part of its line-up soon – the Pantech Perception, an LTE gadget that will hit the shelves tomorrow on April 25.

One quick look at the handset and we can easily figure out that this is a pretty decent mid-range smartphone, packing a 4.8 inch Super AMOLED HD display, 16 GB of storage, an 8 MP camera on the back panel as well as a 2 MP camera at the front. The handset runs on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich out of the box but Verizon claims that the handset will be upgraded to Jelly Bean "soon". Keep in mind that for us -the consumers-, "soon" usually means a couple of weeks or so, but for manufacturers and carriers, the term can imply a couple of months or even more.

An interesting feature of the Pantech Perception is the so called "Motion Sense". This feature allows the user to utilize the smartphone to a certain extent without having to touch the display. You can wave your hand over the device in order to answer a phone call, change a song that's being played or scroll through your contacts. It might not sound like the biggest innovation –because it isn't- but this feature can become really handy when your hands are dirty, or greasy for example, and you don't wish to smudge your smartphone's display.

The Perception will be available in Verizon's stores starting with April 25 at the price of $99.99 alongside a 2-year contract and after a $50 mail-in rebate.

Would anyone be interested in the Pantech Perception?
