I keep hearing about how analog mode is on its way out. Digital will completely take over soon...they say. I had a dual mode phone (busted) and I must say I do not like digital sound.

I am considering getting an analog-only phone or another
dual/tri-mode phone with an option to force analog. How long can I expect to be able to enjoy AMPS service? 2 years? 5 years? Are the cell companies planning on taking the analog towers down? As soon as I get out of the city, AMPS is the only mode available.
