We have been having trouble with our Simple Freedom Phones and the problem has yet to been fixed. So, my husband and I went out today and bought the Net10 prepaid cell phone. I'm actually impressed so far! Granted, we've only had it not even a whole day but it has all the features my husband needed and he's actually able to make OUTGOING calls. I love the price of the minutes (10 cents all the time) we bought the $30 card and got 300 minutes, and yes, he'll actually use those in a months time, lol. They have the same coverage area as Tracfone (Tracfone owns NET10) so/so far, we have no complaints. The phone comes with 20 minutes of airtime also. The guy at Walmart said it didn't, but it does. I;ve seen a few people on here asking about the Net10 phones so I thought I'd put this up here for anyone wondering what they are like. You don't get the color screen like you do with many others, but heck, I can't complain about that when the phone actually works and the awesome price for minutes. Also, the volume on the phone and the call quality is great! I have such a hard time hearing on my Simple Freedom phone and when I used this one, I was really impressed. So, looks like the kids are getting our Simple Freedom phones (or my husbands rather) and in the next few weeks, I'll go get another one like his and our other son can have mine. Hope this helps any of you out who may be thinking on getting a Net10 prepaid cell phone. I had to come back and edit this because I went out and bought myself a NET10 prepaid cell phoen. My husband has the lil blue one that doesn't ahve the colored screen, and I got the flip top one which does have the colored screen. I love this lil phone, it is so sleek and easy to navigate and use. The only thing I was disapointed in was, on the website,, it does say it comes with ringtones, which it does, but it also says "downloadable" and as of right now, they don't have any on the site to download. I E-mailed customer service and they said that although many of the NET!) phones are capable of downloading ringtones, they don't have any on the site right now but that is a feature that will be added to the site in the future. On the upside, the phone does have a feature that lets you make your own ringtones for your phone. All in all, we're pretty satisfied with NET10 and I'd recommend it to anyone.

    Net10 prepaid Buyer Beware

Just so no one makes the same mistake I made. I got a net10 phone for fathers day. I added my first 30.00 airtime card which was suppose to last until July 18th. I get paid once a month so today the 1st of July I though I would add another 30.00 so it would go through until August 18 until my next check. Guess what they only extended it until July 31st. They added the 300 minutes but only gave me 30 days from the date I added the card. I lost 13 days by adding time before my expiration day....doesn't seem fair to me.

    JerryAB,
If you read the book that comes with it, or on the website, it says that they give you 30 days from the time that you add airtime. So what they did is exactly what they say on the website and manual. It would be nice if that time was tacked onto your previous date, but in all honesty, they tell you it doesn't work that way on their site. Try putting the your money back and buy a card closer to your due date, or, you can get a $60 card and that will last 2 months. I'm saving up to get the 3000 minute card and that way you don't have to worry about it for a year. All in all, in my opinion, you can't beat the price. Customer service is very nice and helpful as well. When I first activated my phone, I was supposed to have a certain ammount of time and it was 5 minutes less, so I called them and they gave me even more free minutes than what I was supposed to have PLUS extended my due date for two months:-)

    Net10 prepaid Buyer Beware

I know it was my mistake. I only read the card which is how I put my initial 300 minutes on. It didn't seem clear to me because it said it would extend my time.

Hello, I'm new and I really appreciate this update on NET10 because I'm close to getting one. I resently emailed them about the ringtone problem and am waiting for a response.(Hopefully they can give me some concrete info about when/how they plan to fix this problem.) If the problem will be solved in an acceptable time frame,(like in a month or two.) I probably will purchase the phone shortly. I will keep those interested in the answer to my email with updates in this thread.

I used to own a Net10 but then I got a Ralix Wireless phone. The minutes are a little more expensive, but coverage is based on Sprint PCS's network with free roaming so its really good. Plus there is UNLIMITED Night & Weekends and I think that ralix is the only prepaid provider that even offers that. The people over there are cool. I talk to the marketing guy joe, quite a bit and I think I am going to be a reseller of them soon. They're a small MI based company, and of course a proud Sprint reseller. I think they also do nextel on the side. There website is www.ralix.com check them out. net10 is pretty good tho, I used to have them. But coverage was "iffy". and quality was as well. Minutes were cheap, but I still went thru them fast. BUt I havent gone thru my ralix minutes yet because 99% of my calling is on the nights/weekends anyways (yes im a teenager) and thats free 100% of the time so its pretty cool.

Anyone looking to research any of these, here's a very useful link I found http://prepaiduswireless.com/ you can read about tons of the prepaid ones. I myself am not a teenager though so I don't stay up all hours of the night to make phone calls, lol ;-) To each his or her own though, what works for some, may not work for others. We have had our NET10 phones for a while now and we have had no problems whatsoever with them and the reception is better than any cell phone I've ever used.

Umm I dont believe you can. I rarely text. I just call people. I know you can send and receive text messages though. It takes one min per message sent and received. You should just email ralix and ask. They might even hook you up with a deal on the phone.

Concerning the NET10 service, I just recently bought one and was looking through thier website looking for downloadable ringtones. Has anyone tried one of the independent ringtone providers? I recall not long ago there were commercials on television advertising ringtones, wallpapers, screensavers and the like for various phones. Maybe one of them is compatible with NET10?
