We need a little advice. We have had Alltel for several years, the only service provider that provides decide coverage out here in the sticks. Anyway, our contract will end soon and with the merger with Verizon this would be a great time to replace our worn out phones. Currently I have a Razor and my wife has a cheap LG. We share the basic minute package and NEVER exceed our allotted minutes.
To get to the point, I have a Palm Pilot with my scriptures & other books, and a program called Documents to Go, which is compatible with Microsoft Office programs. I would really like to have one device, (phone + palm pilot) in one unit. I did some research last year and discovered that the Palm Phones are not rated that well, with numerous complaints of program errors and charging problems. Is there another phone that will support Windows programs that has a screen big enough to actually read the text without going blind? I am not interested in surfing the web, texting or anything like that would require additional money on my plan.

If you can wait the "Palm Pre" is supposed to be released soon, looks to be an interesting phone... I believe sprint is supposed to get it, not sure about other carriers though.

I belive most of the smart phones will acomplish the task that you are looking for. Research in Motion's Blackberry is probably the most notable of the smart phones, however the best of them at this time according to computer shopper is LG. Some of my friends have told me that sometimes they need capabilities that their cell provider simply does not provide so they have gone and bought an unlocked cell phone and added a SIM card from their provider and used it with that provider. Unlocked phones tend to be very expensive - $450.
