Hi,
Honestly, I find the layout of these forums pretty confusing and I have no idea where to post my question. Basically, I do cell phone repair including iPhones. I get more and more requests to unlock phones. I'm starting to get into but I NEED to know some things:
I see lots of programs you can buy for unlocking and I also know you can buy unlock codes. Generally, when people or businesses offer to unlock your phone -- Do they use these programs, use the unlock codes, or is it done 'manually'??
I'm wondering if someone can suggest the best, quickest and easiest way for unlocking iPhones among other phones. I've looked into sites that offer programs OR unlocking codes. Wondering if someone can recommend a quick, easy and lasting solution or could recommend a program or site or something.
I just don't know which is legit and safe and what not. Is there any need of buying software and codes or can it be done manually? I do need something quick though. Also, typically would you provide the new SIM cards to the users? I have SIM card son hand. Please any suggestions would be great and asap. Thanks. I'm completely new to unlocking but not at hardware repair.

Re: Need some Advice on cell phone unlocking software
I'm sorry you found the layout confusing. I moved this to the general forum for you.
Cell phone unlockers usually purchase these programs and sell unlock codes. There is nothing stopping you from purchasing the programs yourself, except for cost and knowing how to use it. If I were you I would purchase an unlock code from a vendor. One of them here can help you: Cell Phone Market - Cell Phone Forums
Unlockers do not provide new sim cards. You should purchase the sim on the carrier you want to use before unlocking.

Re: Need some Advice on cell phone unlocking software
I already have the brand new SIM cards for the carrier. I didn't purchase them through the carrier. Actually they were sent to me for free. Would I perform the unlock with the new SIM card in or the original?
