WARNING! Master resetting your phone will result in the deletion of all personal data stored on the device’s internal memory. This includes contacts, ringtones, apps, downloaded content, images etc. Data stored on the SIM and SD cards will not be affected.

NOTE: To learn how you can back up and restore data on the ZTE Obsidian before applying the master reset, visit this thread for a full guide.

    Master Reset via Settings:

    1. Tap “Apps” on the home screen
    2. Go to “Settings
    3. Swipe to “Personal” and tap “Backup & reset
    4. Tap “Factory data reset
    5. In case your phone is protected by a PIN, pattern, or password, enter it to proceed
    6. Tap “Reset phone” to confirm

    Master Reset via Recovery:

NOTE: If you are unable to master reset the ZTE Obsidian through the settings menu (maybe your phone crashes, freezes etc.) then you can try factory resetting it through the recovery menu. It can be accessed by performing a sequence of hardware key presses, as detailed below:

    1. Turn off your phone
    2. With the device turned off, press and hold the “Power” button for a couple of seconds, then press and hold the “Volume Up” key as well
    3. Keep holding both buttons pressed until the “Select Boot Mode” screen appears, then release them
    4. From the menu, make sure “Recovery Mode” is highlighted and press “Volume Up” to select the option
    5. Wait for the android with a yellow triangle to appear on the screen, then press and release “Volume Up” and “Power” simultaneously. (You should now see the Android system recovery menu)
    6. From the recovery screen, press “Volume Down” repeatedly to navigate to and highlight “wipe data / factory reset
    7. Press “Power” to select the highlighted option and wait for your phone to reset, then reboot

Did you change the account password before the reset? If so, you usually need to wait 72 hours before you can use the account again after the reset.
