Enable Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Tap “Apps” on the home screen
  2. Access “Settings”
  3. Swipe to “Device” and tap “Battery”
  4. Tap “Menu” > “Battery saver”
  5. Enable Battery saver mode

Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. Go to “Settings”
  2. Scroll to “Device”
  3. Tap “Display” > “Brightness level”
  4. Disable “Adaptive brightness” if necessary
  5. Drag the brightness slider towards the left
  6. Go back to the “Display” menu and tap “Sleep”
  7. Select a lower value, such as “15 seconds”

Disable Wi-Fi, Hotspot, GPS, and Bluetooth:

NOTE: To improve battery life in the long run you can disable the phone’s connectivity features when they are not in use. This includes Wi-Fi, Hotspot, GPS, and Bluetooth.

  1. Drag the “Status” bar down
  2. Tap the tiles associated with “Wi-Fi”, “Location” and “Bluetooth” to disable these options
  3. Go to “Settings”
  4. Tap “Location” > “Mode”
  5. Select “Battery saving”
  6. Go back to “Settings” and tap “Wireless & networks”
  7. Tap “Mode” > “Tethering & mobile hotspot”
  8. Disable “Mobile Wi-Fi hotspot”

Change Sync Settings:

NOTE: You can improve battery life by setting your phone / accounts to sync less data. To do so

  1. Access “Settings”
  2. Go to “Accounts”
  3. Select the desired account type
  4. Swipe through the list and disable the desired sync options

Minimize the Use of Third Party Apps:

NOTE: Some third party applications can affect your phone’s battery performance even when you don’t open them – assuming that these apps perform regular background processes. As such you could improve battery life by disabling or removing unused third party apps.

  1. Open the apps drawer
  2. Access “Settings”
  3. Tap “Apps” and access the “Downloads” tab
  4. Select the desired application
  5. Tap “Disable” / “Force stop”
  6. To completely remove the app, tap “Uninstall” > “OK”

Switch to 4G instead of 2G:

  1. Go to “Settings”
  2. Scroll to “Wireless & networks”
  3. Tap “More” > “Mobile networks”
  4. Tap “Preferred network type”
  5. Tap to enable “2G”
