Changing the Theme:

  1. Tap “Themes” on the home screen
  2. Swipe left or right to browse through the themes
  3. Once you found one to your liking, tap it
  4. Tap the icon shaped like a square with four small circles inside to further customize the wallpaper, font, theme style and more
  5. When ready, tap the “check mark” button to save the changes

Change the Home Screen Style:

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Access the “All” tab
  3. Tap “Home screen style”
  4. Tap “Simple” or “Standard home”
  5. To confirm the changes, tap the “check mark” icon

Change the Wallpaper:

  1. Tap “Settings” on the home screen
  2. Access the “General” tab
  3. Tap “Wallpaper”
  4. From the wallpaper menu you can perform the following:
    • Tap “Lock screen wallpaper” to change the wallpaper on the lock screen
    • Tap “Home screen wallpaper"
    • Tap to enable “Shake to change”. This feature will change the home screen wallpaper when you shake your phone
    • Tap “Random change” to allow your phone to automatically change home screen wallpapers at certain time intervals

Change the Font Size:

  1. Go to “Settings”
  2. Scroll to “General”
  3. Tap “Font” > “Font size”
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions and select the desired font size

Using Voice Wakeup:

NOTE: Voice Wakeup allows you to find your phone and place phone calls using your voice.

  1. Tap “Settings” on the home screen
  2. Scroll to “All”
  3. Tap “Speech awareness” and tap the switch to enable the feature
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions to set up a “wakeup keyboard”
  5. Speak the desired keyword to wake up your phone and use voice dialing
  6. You can also say the keyword and ask the phone where it’s located. This will make the phone ring

Enable Motion Control:

NOTE: Motion control allows you to control your Mate S using motions and gestures, such as answering a phone call automatically when you bring it close to your ear.

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Scroll to “All”
  3. Tap “Motion control”
  4. From the Motion control screen, select an option and a motion to enable it. You can perform the following Motion Controls:
    • Flip: to mute the sound and stop vibration from alarms, timers, or incoming calls
    • Pick Up: when you pick up your phone the ring volume will be reduced automatically
    • Shake: with this feature enabled, you can tap and hold an empty area on the home screen to enter edit mode, and shake the phone to organize icons
    • Tilt: From the home screen editing menu, you can tap and hold an icon / widget, and tilt the phone left or right to move the item to the next or previous screen

Add Widgets / Apps / Folders on the Home Screen:

  • To add a widget: pinch the home screen, tap “Widgets” and select a widget. It will be added in an empty area on the home screen
  • To move an app or widget: tap and hold the item until the phone vibrates, then drag > drop it in the desired location
  • To delete an app / widget: tap and hold it and drag > drop it on top of the “trash can” icon
  • To hide apps: pinch the home screen out, tap “+”, select the app you want to hide and tap “OK”
  • To create folders on the home screen: drag an icon and drop it on top of another one to automatically create a folder. You can open the folder and tap its name to rename it
