Enable Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Tap “Apps” on the home screen
  2. Go to “Settings”
  3. Tap “Battery” under “Device”
  4. Tap “Menu” > “Battery saver” and enable the feature

Lower the Screen Brightness:

  1. Open the “Settings” menu
  2. Swipe to “Device” and tap “Display”
  3. Disable “Automatic brightness” if necessary
  4. Tap “Brightness level” and drag the slider to the left

Disable Wi-Fi, Hotspot, GPS, and Bluetooth:

NOTE: You can improve battery life in the long run by disabling your phone’s connectivity features when they are not in use.

  1. Drag the “status” bar down on the home screen
  2. Tap the “Bluetooth” and “Wi-Fi” tiles to disable these features
  3. Access the phone’s “Settings” menu
  4. Tap “Location” under “Personal”
  5. Tap “Mode” > “Battery saving” (for GPS)
  6. Go back to “Settings”
  7. Under “Wireless & Networks”, tap “More”
  8. Tap “Tethering & portable hotspot” to disable “Wi-Fi hotspot”

Switch from 4G to 2G Connectivity:

  1. Open the “Settings” menu
  2. Under “Wireless & Networks”, tap “More”
  3. Tap “Cellular networks”
  4. Tap “Preferred network type” and select “2G”

Change Sync Settings:

NOTE: By setting your accounts to sync less data you can improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Go to “Settings”
  2. Tap “Accounts” under “Personal”
  3. Select the desired account
  4. Tap the “Sync” icon and disable the desired sync options

Minimize the Use of Third Party Applications:

NOTE: Certain third party applications can affect your battery performance even when you don’t use them – assuming that the apps run regular processes in the background. As such, you might be able to improve battery life by disabling or removing unused third party apps.

  1. Go to “Settings”
  2. Under “Device”, tap “Apps”
  3. Swipe to “Downloaded”
  4. Select the desired application
  5. Tap “Disable”, or tap “Uninstall” > “OK” to complete remove the app

Keep the OS Up to Date:

NOTE: Some software updates can include improvements to battery life, and as such you should keep your phone updated at all times. To manually check for updates:

  1. Tap “Apps” on the home screen
  2. Open “Settings”
  3. Scroll down to, and tap “About phone”
  4. Tap “System updates” and if available, follow the on-screen instructions to install and apply the update
