Enable Battery Saving Mode for Location:
- Open the apps drawer
- Access Settings
- Tap Location under Personal
- Tap Mode and select Battery saving
Disable Wi-Fi, Hotspot, GPS, and Bluetooth:
NOTE: By disabling your phones connectivity features when they are not in use (such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, and Hotspot), you should be able to improve the phones battery life in the long run.
- Open the apps drawer
- Access Settings
- Tap the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth sliders and set them to OFF
- From the Settings screen, tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Tap Mobile Hotspot and set the switch to OFF
- Return to the Settings menu, and swipe to Personal
- Tap Location (GPS) and set turn the feature OFF
Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- Open Settings
- Tap Display > Brightness level
- Make sure Automatic brightness is disabled
- Drag the brightness slider towards the left side to decrease luminosity
- From the Display menu, tap Sleep
- Select a lower value for screen timeout, like 15 seconds
Change Sync Settings:
NOTE: By setting your phone to sync less data or less often, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Open the apps drawer
- Launch Settings
- Swipe to Personal and tap Accounts
- Select the account you want to change settings for
- Clear the sync options you desire, then tap Menu > Sync Now to save the changes
Disable Background Data:
- First go to Settings
- Tap Data usage
- Press Menu
- Enable Restrict app background data
Minimize the Use of Third Party Applications:
NOTE: Certain third party apps can have a negative effect on your phones battery performance even when you dont use them assuming that the apps run regular processes in the background. As such, you should be able to improve battery life by disabling or removing unused third party apps.
- Open the Settings menu
- Swipe to Device and tap Apps
- Swipe to Downloaded
- Select the desired app
- Tap Disable, or alternatively, tap Uninstall > OK
Use 2G Connectivity Instead of 4G:
- Access the Settings menu
- Tap More > Cellular networks
- Tap Preferred network type > 2G only
