Turn On Battery Saving Mode:
- Open Settings and scroll to Device
- Tap Battery
- Tap Menu and enable Battery saver
Adjust the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- Open the Settings menu
- Tap Display under Device
- If necessary, turn off Adaptive brightness
- Tap Brightness level and drag the slider towards the left to decrease brightness
- Return to the Display menu and tap Sleep
- Select a lower screen timeout value, such as 15 seconds
Disable Wi-Fi, Hotspot, GPS, and Bluetooth:
NOTE: To conserve battery life in the long run, you can disable the phones connectivity features when not in use, including Wi-Fi, Hotspot, Bluetooth, and GPS.
- Swipe the Notification bar down on the home screen
- Tap the Wi-Fi, Location and Bluetooth tiles to disable these features
- Access the phones Settings menu
- Tap Location for additional GPS options
- Tap Mode and select Battery saving
- To disable Hotspot, return to Settings tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Turn off Tethering & Mobile Hotspot
Minimize the Use of Third Party Apps:
NOTE: Certain third party applications can negatively affect your battery performance even when you dont use them, due to the fact that some apps perform regular background processes. As such, by removing or disabling unused third party apps, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Open the Settings menu
- Tap Apps under Device
- Go to Downloaded
- Select the desired application
- Tap Disable / Force stop to turn off the app
- To remove the app from the phone, tap Uninstall > OK
Change Sync Settings:
NOTE: By setting your accounts to sync less data, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Tap Apps on the home screen
- Open Settings and scroll to Personal
- Tap Accounts
- Select an account type
- Clear the boxes associated with the sync options you want to turn off
Switch from 4G to 2G:
- Launch the Settings menu
- Tap More under Wireless & networks
- Tap Mobile networks > Preferred network type
- Tap 2G to limit connectivity
