Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Open the apps drawer on the home screen
- Launch Settings
- Scroll to Device
- Tap Battery > Menu
- Turn on Battery saver
Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- Go to Settings
- Scroll to Device and tap Display
- If necessary, disable Adaptive brightness
- Tap Brightness level
- Drag the brightness slider to the left to decrease luminosity
- Return to Display and tap Sleep
- Select a lower value like 15 seconds
Turn Off Connectivity Features When Unused:
NOTE: By disabling the phones connectivity features when unused, including Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, and Hotspot, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down using two fingers
- Tap the Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and Location (GPS) tiles to disable these features
- For additional Location options, go to Settings and tap Location
- Tap Mode and select Battery saving
- To disable Hotspot, first return to Settings
- Then, tap More under Wireless & Networks and disable Tethering & Mobile hotspot
Switch to 2G Connectivity:
NOTE: In case your phone runs low on battery and you dont have quick access to a wall socket or battery bank, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.
- Go to Settings
- Tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Tap Mobile networks > Preferred network type
- Turn on 2G
Change Sync Settings:
NOTE: By lowering the amount of data synced by your apps / accounts, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Open the apps drawer
- Launch Settings
- Scroll to Personal and tap Accounts
- Select an account type
- Clear the check boxes associated with the sync options you want to turn off
Minimize Third Party App Usage:
NOTE: Third party apps can perform regular background processes when not in use and thus they can affect battery life. By disabling or removing unused third party apps, you might improve battery life in the long run.
- Open Settings
- Under Device, tap Apps
- Swipe to Downloaded and select the desired app
- Tap Disable / Force stop to turn off the app
- To remove the app, tap Uninstall > OK
Keep the OS Updated:
NOTE: Software updates can include battery life improvements, so its recommended to keep the phones OS up to date at all times. To check for new updates:
- Tap Apps on the home screen
- Open Settings
- Scroll to and tap About phone
- Tap System updates. If necessary, follow the on-screen prompts to download and install any available updates. NOTE: This may require you to reboot the phone
