WARNING! When you factory reset your device, all personal data stored on the phone’s internal memory will be deleted. This includes media files and ringtones, contacts, apps, downloaded content etc. Furthermore, all settings will be restored to factory values.

Factory Reset via Settings:

  1. Tap “Apps” on the home screen
  2. Go to “Settings”
  3. Tap “Backup & reset” > “Factory data reset”
  4. Check the “Warning” pop-up and tap “Reset phone” when ready
  5. If your phone is protected by a lock screen, enter the PIN / password to proceed
  6. Tap “Continue” > “Reset Phone”
  7. When prompted, reboot your phone to complete the process

Factory Reset via Recovery:

NOTE: If you are unable to reset the phone through the method above, alternatively you can try resetting the phone from the Android Recovery menu, which can be accessed by performing a combination of button presses as described below:

  1. First make sure the device is powered off
  2. Then, press and hold “Power” for a couple of seconds, then quickly press and hold “Volume Up” too
  3. Keep the buttons pressed until the “Select Boot Mode” screen appears (release the buttons at this screen)
  4. Press “Volume Up” to cycle through the available options and highlight “Recovery Mode”
  5. Press “Volume down” (or “Volume down” + “Volume up”) to select the highlighted option
  6. After a few seconds you should see an image of an Android laying down
  7. At this screen, press and release “Volume Up” and “Power” at the same time to gain access to the “Android system recovery” menu
  8. In Recovery, press “Volume down” repeatedly to highlight “wipe data / factory reset”
  9. Press “Power” to select the highlighted option
  10. Press “Volume down” to highlight “Yes – delete all user data”
  11. Press “Power”
  12. Once the reset is done, press “Power” with “Reboot system now” highlighted

Check for OS Updates:

NOTE: After a fresh factory reset, it’s recommended to check if new software updates are available for download. To do this:

  1. Open the apps drawer
  2. Go to “Settings”
  3. Tap “About phone” > “Additional system updates”
  4. Tap “Software Update” and check if a new update is available for download
  5. If applicable, follow the on-screen steps to download and apply any available updates. WARNING: the update process will require at least one reboot
