Clear App Cache / Data:

NOTE: If one of your applications freezes, crashes, takes up too much storage inexplicably or otherwise doesn’t work as intended, you can try fixing these issues by clearing the app’s cache / data.

WARNING! When you clear an app’s data, all your personal data stored within the application will be deleted. This includes save games, profiles, settings, login and credit card information etc. To avoid losing personal app data, clear ONLY the app’s cache.

  1. Tap “Apps” on the home screen
  2. Open “Settings”
  3. Tap “Apps” and make sure “All Apps” is checked in the drop-down menu at the top of the screen
  4. Select the desired application
  5. Access “Storage”
  6. Tap “Clear cache”
  7. If clearing the cache didn’t help, you can tap “Clear data” > “OK” (NOTE: check WARNING above)

Wipe The Phone’s Cache Partition:

NOTE: In case your phone doesn’t work as intended or runs out of storage inexplicably and you are thinking of factory resetting it, you can try fixing these issues by clearing the phone’s cache partition instead. This can have similar results to a factory reset, without losing any personal data stored on the phone’s memory. To wipe the cache partition:

  1. First make sure the phone is turned off
  2. Press and hold “Power” for a couple of seconds, then quickly press and hold “Volume Up”
  3. Release both buttons when the “Select Boot Mode” screen appears
  4. In the said menu, press “Volume Up” to cycle through the options and highlight “Recovery Mode”
  5. Press “Volume Down” to select the highlighted option (or if Volume Down doesn’t work, press both volume keys at the same time)
  6. Wait for the screen showing an Android laying down to appear, and then press and release “Volume Up” and “Power” at the same time
  7. You should now have access to “Android system recovery”
  8. Navigate the Recovery menu by pressing “Volume down” repeatedly. Highlight “wipe cache partition”
  9. Press “Power” to select the highlighted option
  10. After the cache is wiped, press “Power” while “reboot system now” is highlighted to reboot your device

  6. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Apps”
  7. Select the desired app and tap “Uninstall” to confirm
  8. To exit Safe Mode, press and hold “Power” and tap “Restart” > “OK” in the pop-up window to confirm
