Turn Battery Saving Mode On:
- Open the apps drawer
- Go to Settings
- Scroll to Device
- Tap Battery > Menu
- Turn Battery saver On
Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen using two fingers
- Drag the Brightness slider towards the left to decrease luminosity
- Access Settings
- Scroll to Device and tap Display
- Optionally, you can turn Adaptive brightness On or Off
- To choose a lower timeout duration, tap Sleep
Turn Off Unused Connectivity Features:
NOTE: By disabling the phones connectivity features when they are not in use including Wi-Fi, Hotspot, Bluetooth and GPS, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
- Tap the Wi-Fi, Location (GPS) and Bluetooth tiles to disable these features
- Open Settings
- Scroll to and tap Location (GPS)
- Tap Mode and enable Battery saving
- For more options, open Settings
- Then tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Tap Tethering & Portable hotspot
- Touch the switch to disable Hotspot
Switch to 2G Networks:
NOTE: If your phone runs low on battery and you dont have quick access to a wall socket or battery bank, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.
- Open Settings
- Tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Go to Mobile networks
- Tap Preferred network type
- Turn 2G On
Change Sync Settings:
NOTE: By changing the sync settings of your accounts / apps to reduce sync, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Open the apps drawer
- Launch Settings
- Scroll to Personal
- Tap Accounts and select an account to change its sync settings and reduce sync
Minimize Third Party App Usage:
NOTE: Some third party apps perform regular background processes and they can potentially affect battery life when they are not actively in use. Thus, by removing or disabling unused third party apps on your phone, you might improve battery life in the long run.
- Go to Settings
- Scroll to Device
- Tap Apps
- Make sure All Apps is checked in the drop-down menu at the top
- Select the desired app
- Tap Uninstall to remove the app, or tap Force Stop to turn the app Off
Keep the OS Updated:
NOTE: OS updates can improve battery life so its recommended to keep the software updated at all times. To check for software updates:
- Go to Settings
- Scroll to and tap About phone
- Tap System updates
- Check if a new update is available. If applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to download and apply any available updates. NOTE: The update will require at least one reboot
