Enable Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Tap “Apps” on the home screen,
  2. Open “Settings”
  3. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Battery”
  4. Tap “Menu”
  5. Enable “Battery saver”

Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. Swipe the “Status” bar down on the home screen
  2. Drag the “Brightness” slider towards the left side of the screen to decrease luminosity
  3. Launch “Settings”
  4. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Display”
  5. Optionally, you can choose to enable or disable “Adaptive Brightness”
  6. Tap “Sleep” for timeout options and select a lower value such as “15 seconds”

Turn Off Unused Connectivity Options:

NOTE: By disabling the phone’s connectivity features when not in use, including Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Hotspot, and GPS, you can improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Swipe the “Status” bar down on the home screen using two fingers
  2. Tap the “Wi-Fi”, “Bluetooth” and “Location” (GPS) tiles to turn the features OFF
  3. For additional options, open “Settings”
  4. Scroll to and tap “Location”
  5. Tap “Mode” and enable “Battery saving”
  6. Go back to “Settings”
  7. Tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
  8. Tap “Tethering & portable hotspot” and set the switch OFF

Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:

NOTE: In case your phone runs low on battery and you don’t have quick access to a wall socket or battery bank, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.

  1. Go to “Settings”
  2. Tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
  3. Access “Mobile networks” > “Preferred network type”
  4. Enable “2G”

Minimize Third Party App Usage:

NOTE: Certain third party applications perform regular background processes and can potentially affect battery life even when not in use. Thus, by disabling or removing unused third party apps from the phone, you can improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Apps”
  3. Ensure “All apps” is selected in the drop-down menu at the top
  4. Select the desired app
  5. Tap “Disable” / “Force Stop” to disable the app or tap “Uninstall” to remove it

Change Sync Settings:

NOTE: You can gain battery life in the long run by changing the sync settings of your accounts / apps to reduce sync.

  1. Tap “Apps” on the home screen
  2. Open “Settings”
  3. Scroll to “Personal” and tap “Accounts”
  4. Select the desired account to change its sync settings

Keep the Software Updated:

NOTE: Software updates can include battery life improvements and as such, it’s recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To verify if new OS updates are available:

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Scroll to and tap “About phone”
  3. Tap “System updates”
  4. Check if a new update is available
  5. If applicable, follow the on-screen instructions to download and apply available updates. NOTE: the updating process will require at least one reboot
