Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Open the apps drawer
- Go to Settings
- Scroll to Device
- Tap Battery > Menu
- Enable Battery saver
Disable Unused Connectivity Features:
NOTE: By disabling unused connectivity features when unused, including Wi-Fi, Hotspot, Bluetooth, and GPS, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen using two fingers
- Tap the Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and Location (GPS) tiles to disable the features
- For additional options open Settings
- Scroll to Location and tap Mode
- Enable Battery saving
- To disable Hotspot, return to Settings
- Then tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Tap Tethering & portable hotspot and turn the feature Off
Use 2G Networks Temporarily:
NOTE: If your phone runs low on battery and you dont have quick access to a wall socket or battery bank, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.
- Open Settings
- Tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Go to Mobile networks
- Tap Preferred network type
- Turn 2G On
Minimize Third Party App Usage:
NOTE: Some third party apps perform regular background processes, and thus they can affect battery life even when not in use. By disabling or uninstalling unused third party apps, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Launch Settings
- Scroll to Device and tap Apps
- Make sure All Apps is selected in the drop-down menu at the top
- Tap Force stop to disable the app, or tap Uninstall to remove the app
Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- Swipe the Status bar down using two fingers
- Drag the Brightness slider towards the left to decrease brightness
- For more options, open Settings
- Scroll to Device and tap Display
- Optionally, turn Adaptive Brightness On or Off
- To decrease screen timeout duration, tap Sleep
Change Sync Settings:
NOTE: By changing the sync settings of your accounts / apps to reduce sync, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Open the apps drawer
- Go to Settings
- Scroll to Personal
- Tap Accounts and select an account
- Reduce the sync settings
Keep the OS Updated:
NOTE: Software updates can include battery life improvements. Its recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check for OS updates:
- Launch Settings
- Scroll to, and tap About phone
- Tap System updates and check if an update is available
- Follow the on-screen prompts to download and apply the updates. NOTE: The update process will require at least one reboot
