Enable Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Open the apps drawer
  2. Go to “Settings”
  3. Scroll to “Device”
  4. Tap “Battery” > “Menu”
  5. Enable “Battery saver”

Disable Unused Connectivity Features:

NOTE: By disabling unused connectivity features when unused, including Wi-Fi, Hotspot, Bluetooth, and GPS, you can improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Swipe the “Status” bar down on the home screen using two fingers
  2. Tap the “Wi-Fi”, “Bluetooth” and “Location” (GPS) tiles to disable the features
  3. For additional options open “Settings”
  4. Scroll to “Location” and tap “Mode”
  5. Enable “Battery saving”
  6. To disable Hotspot, return to “Settings”
  7. Then tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
  8. Tap “Tethering & portable hotspot” and turn the feature Off

Use 2G Networks Temporarily:

NOTE: If your phone runs low on battery and you don’t have quick access to a wall socket or battery bank, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
  3. Go to “Mobile networks”
  4. Tap “Preferred network type”
  5. Turn “2G” On

Minimize Third Party App Usage:

NOTE: Some third party apps perform regular background processes, and thus they can affect battery life even when not in use. By disabling or uninstalling unused third party apps, you can improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Apps”
  3. Make sure “All Apps” is selected in the drop-down menu at the top
  4. Tap “Force stop” to disable the app, or tap “Uninstall” to remove the app

Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. Swipe the “Status” bar down using two fingers
  2. Drag the “Brightness” slider towards the left to decrease brightness
  3. For more options, open “Settings”
  4. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Display”
  5. Optionally, turn “Adaptive Brightness” On or Off
  6. To decrease screen timeout duration, tap “Sleep”

Change Sync Settings:

NOTE: By changing the sync settings of your accounts / apps to reduce sync, you can improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Open the apps drawer
  2. Go to “Settings”
  3. Scroll to “Personal”
  4. Tap “Accounts” and select an account
  5. Reduce the sync settings

Keep the OS Updated:

NOTE: Software updates can include battery life improvements. It’s recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check for OS updates:

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Scroll to, and tap “About phone”
  3. Tap “System updates” and check if an update is available
  4. Follow the on-screen prompts to download and apply the updates. NOTE: The update process will require at least one reboot
