Enable Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Open the apps drawer
  2. Go to “Settings”
  3. Scroll to “Device”
  4. Tap “Battery” > “Menu”
  5. Enable “Battery saver”

Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. On the home screen, swipe the “Status” bar down using two fingers
  2. Drag the “Brightness” slider towards the left to decrease luminosity
  3. Open “Settings” for more options
  4. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Display”
  5. Optionally, enable or disable “Adaptive brightness”
  6. Tap “Sleep” and select a lower value

Disable Unused Connectivity Features:

NOTE: By disabling your phone’s connectivity features when not in use, including Wi-Fi, Hotspot, GPS, and Bluetooth, you can improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Swipe the “Status” bar down on the home screen using two fingers
  2. Tap the “Location”, “Bluetooth” and “Wi-Fi” tiles to disable these features
  3. For additional options, go to “Settings”
  4. Next, scroll to “Location” (GPS)
  5. Tap “Mode” and enable “Battery saving”
  6. To disable Hotspot, return to “Settings”
  7. Then tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
  8. Tap “Tethering & Portable hotspot” and disable the feature

Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:

NOTE: If your phone runs low on battery and you don’t have quick access to a battery bank or wall socket, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
  3. Tap “Mobile networks” > “Preferred network type”
  4. Turn On “2G”

Change Sync Settings:

NOTE: By changing your apps/accounts’ sync settings to reduce sync, you can improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Go to “Personal” and tap “Accounts”
  3. Select the desired account
  4. Change the available sync options to reduce sync

Minimize Third Party App Usage:

NOTE: Some third party apps perform regular background processes and can potentially affect battery life even when not in use. By disabling or removing unused third party apps from the phone, you can improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Open “Settings” and scroll to “Device”
  2. Tap “Apps”
  3. Make sure “All Apps” is selected in the drop-down menu at the top
  4. Tap “Force stop” to disable the app
  5. Alternatively, tap “Uninstall” to remove the app

Keep the OS Up To Date:

NOTE: OS updates can bring battery life improvements, and thus it’s generally recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check if new updates are available:

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Scroll to and tap “About phone”
  3. Tap “System updates”
  4. Check if an update is available and follow the on-screen prompts to download and apply the update. NOTE: The update process will require at least one reboot
