Enable Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Battery”
  3. Tap “Menu” and enable “Battery saver”

Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. On the home screen, swipe the “Status” bar down using two fingers
  2. Drag the brightness slider towards the left to decrease luminosity
  3. Open “Settings”
  4. Scroll to “Device”
  5. Tap “Display” and enable or disable “Adaptive brightness”
  6. For timeout options, tap “Sleep” and select a lower value such as “15 seconds”

Disable Unused Connectivity Features:

NOTE: By changing your phone’s connectivity features when unused, including Hotspot, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and GPS, you can improve battery life in the long run.

  1. On the home screen, swipe the “Status” bar down using two fingers
  2. Tap the “Wi-Fi”, “Bluetooth” and “Location” quick toggles to disable the features
  3. For GPS options, go to “Settings” > “Location”
  4. Tap “Mode” and enable “Battery saving”
  5. To disable Hotspot, return to “Settings” and tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
  6. Tap “Tethering & mobile hotspot” to disable the feature

Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:

NOTE: In case your phone runs low on battery and you don’t have quick access to a wall socket or battery bank, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
  3. Tap “Preferred networks”
  4. Access “Preferred network type” and enable “2G”

Change Sync Settings:

NOTE: By changing your apps/ accounts’ sync settings to reduce sync, you can improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Tap “Accounts” under “Personal”
  3. Select the desired account
  4. Change the available sync options to reduce sync

Minimize Third Party App Usage:

NOTE: Certain third party apps perform regular background processes and thus they can potentially affect battery life even when they are not actively in use. By disabling or removing unused third party apps, you can improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Scroll to “Device”
  3. Tap “Apps” and select “All Apps” in the drop-down menu at the top
  4. Select the desired app
  5. Tap “Force stop” to disable the app
  6. Alternatively, tap “Uninstall” to remove the app from the phone

NOTE: Another method of removing an app is to drag its shortcut from the apps drawer and drop it over the “Uninstall” section at the top.

Keep the OS Up To Date:

NOTE: Software updates can improve battery life, and thus it’s recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times.

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Scroll to and tap “About phone”
  3. Tap “System updates”
  4. Check if a new update is available, and if applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to download and apply available updates (NOTE: the update process will require at least one reboot)
