Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Launch Settings
- Scroll to Device and tap Battery
- Tap Menu
- Enable Battery saver
Turn Unused Connectivity Options OFF:
NOTE: By disabling your phones connectivity options when are not in use, such as Wi-Fi, GPS, Hotspot, and Bluetooth, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down using two fingers
- Tap the Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and Location quick toggles to turn the features OFF
- Open Settings for additional options
- Tap Location (GPS) > Mode and enable Battery saving
- To turn Hotspot Off, return to Settings and tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Tap Tethering & portable hotspot
- Set the Hotspot switch OFF
Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:
NOTE: If your phone runs low on battery and you dont have quick access to a wall socket or battery bank, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G network.
- Launch Settings
- Tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Tap Mobile networks > Preferred network type
- Enable 2G
Minimize Third Party App Usage:
NOTE: Certain third party apps perform regular background processes which can potentially affect battery life when not actively in use. By turning Off or removing unused third party apps from the phone, you might improve battery life in the long run.
- Launch Settings and scroll to Device
- Tap Apps and ensure All Apps is selected in the drop-down menu
- Tap the desired application
- To disable the app, tap Force stop / Disable
- To remove an app, tap Uninstall
NOTE: You can also remove an app by dragging the apps shortcut from the apps drawer and dropping it over the Uninstall section at the top.
Change Sync Settings:
NOTE: By changing your accounts sync settings to reduce sync, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Open the apps drawer
- Launch Settings
- Scroll to Personal and tap Accounts
- Select an account
- Disable the desired sync options
Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen using two fingers
- Drag the brightness slider towards the left side of the screen
- Next, open Settings
- Scroll to Device and tap Display
- Optionally, turn Adaptive brightness On or Off
- For timeout options, tap Sleep and select a lower timeout value
Keep the OS Updated:
NOTE: OS updates can include battery life improvements, so its recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check for updates:
- Launch Settings
- Scroll to and tap About phone
- Go to System updates
- Check if new updates are available. If applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to download and apply available update(s). NOTE: the update process will require at least one reboot
