Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Open the apps drawer
- Launch Settings and scroll to Device
- Tap Battery
- Tap Menu and enable Battery saver
Turn Off the Phones Connectivity Features:
NOTE: By disabling connectivity features when unused, including Wi-Fi, Hotspot, Bluetooth, and Location (GPS), you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen using two fingers
- Tap the Wi-Fi, Location and Bluetooth quick toggles to disable these features
- Next launch Settings
- Scroll to and tap Location
- Tap Mode and enable Battery saving
- Return to Settings and tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Tap Tethering & portable hotspot and set the switch OFF
Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:
NOTE: If your phone runs low on battery and you dont have quick access to a wall socket or battery bank, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.
- Open Settings
- Tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Tap Mobile networks
- Go to Preferred network type and enable 2G
Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen using two fingers
- Drag the brightness slider to the left
- Open Settings for additional options
- Tap Display under Device
- Optionally, turn Adaptive brightness On or Off
- Tap Sleep for timeout options and select a lower value
Change Sync Settings:
NOTE: By changing the sync settings of your accounts to reduce sync, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Open the apps drawer
- Launch Settings
- Scroll to Personal and tap Accounts
- Select an account and turn the desired sync options Off
Minimize Third Party App Usage:
NOTE: Some third party apps perform regular background processes which can potentially affect battery life even when the apps are not actively in use. Thus, by disabling or removing unused third party apps, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Launch Settings
- Scroll to Device
- Tap Apps and ensure All Apps is selected from the drop-down menu
- Select the desired app and tap Force Stop to disable it
- Alternatively, tap Uninstall to remove the app
NOTE: Another method for removing apps is to open the apps drawer and then drag and drop the apps shortcut over the Uninstall section at the top.
Keep the OS Up to Date:
NOTE: OS Updates can include improvements to battery life and as such its recommended to keep the OS updated at all times. To check for OS updates:
- Open Settings
- Scroll to and tap About phone
- Tap System updates and check if a new update is available
- If applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to download and apply updates (NOTE: the update process will require at least one reboot)
