Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Open the apps drawer
- Launch Settings
- Scroll to Device and tap Battery
- Tap Menu
- Enable Battery saver
Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down using two fingers
- Drag the brightness slider towards the left to decrease luminosity
- Launch Settings and scroll to Device
- Tap Display and optionally, enable or disable Adaptive brightness
- For timeout options, tap Sleep and select a lower value
Disable the Phones Connectivity Features:
NOTE: By disabling your phones connectivity features when unused, including Wi-Fi, Hotspot, Location (GPS) and Bluetooth, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down using two fingers
- Tap the Wi-Fi, Location and Bluetooth quick toggles to disable the features
- For more options, open Settings and scroll to Location (GPS)
- Tap Mode and enable Battery saving
- Go back to Settings and tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Tap and disable Tethering & portable hotspot
Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:
NOTE: If your smartphone runs low on battery and you dont have quick access to a wall socket or battery bank, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.
- Launch Settings
- Tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Tap Mobile networks
- Access Preferred network type
- Enable 2G
Minimize Third Party App Usage:
NOTE: Certain third party apps perform regular background processes which can potentially affect battery life even when not actively in use. Thus by disabling or removing unused third party apps, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Open Settings
- Scroll to Device
- Tap Apps ad make sure All apps is selected from the drop-down menu
- Select the desired application
- To disable the app, tap Force stop
- To remove the app from the phone, tap Uninstall
NOTE: You can also uninstall an app by dragging its shortcut from the apps drawer and dropping it over the Uninstall section at the top (visible only when dragging app shortcuts).
Change Sync Settings:
NOTE: By changing your accounts sync settings to reduce sync, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Open the apps drawer
- Launch Settings
- Scroll to Personal
- Tap Accounts and select the desired account
- Change the accounts sync settings to reduce sync
Keep the OS Updated:
NOTE: OS updates can include improvements to battery life and thus its recommended to keep the OS up to date. To check for new updates:
- Launch Settings
- Scroll down to and tap About phone
- Tap System updates
- Check if a new update is available
- If applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to download and apply updates (NOTE: the update process will require at least one reboot)
