Enable Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Battery”
  3. Tap “Menu” and enable “Battery saver”

Adjust Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. Swipe the “Status” bar down using two fingers
  2. Drag the brightness slider towards the left side of the screen to decrease luminosity
  3. Open “Settings”
  4. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Display”
  5. Optionally, enable or disable “Adaptive brightness”
  6. For screen timeout options, tap “Sleep” and select a lower value preferably

Disable Unused Connectivity Features:

NOTE: By turning off the phone’s connectivity features when unused, including Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Location (GPS) and Hotspot, you can improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Swipe the “Status” bar down on the home screen using two fingers
  2. Tap the “Bluetooth”, “Location” and “Wi-Fi” quick toggles to disable the options
  3. Open “Settings” and tap “Location” (GPS)
  4. Tap “Mode” and enable “Battery saving”
  5. Return to “Settings” and tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
  6. Turn “Tethering & portable hotspot” Off

Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:

NOTE: In case your device runs low on battery and you don’t have quick access to a wall socket or battery bank, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
  3. Tap “Mobile networks”
  4. Access “Preferred network type” and enable “2G”

Change Sync Settings:

NOTE: By changing your apps/accounts sync settings to reduce sync, you may improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Scroll to “Personal” and tap “Accounts”
  3. Select the desired account
  4. Change the account’s sync settings to reduce sync

Minimize Third Party App Usage:

NOTE: Certain third party applications perform regular background processes, which can potentially affect the phone’s battery life even when the apps are not actively in use. By disabling or removing unused third party apps on your phone, you may improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Apps”
  3. Make sure “All Apps” is selected in the drop-down menu at the top
  4. Select the desired application and tap “Force Stop” to disable it
  5. To remove the app, tap “Uninstall”

NOTE: Alternatively you can remove an app by dragging its shortcut and dropping it over the “Uninstall” section at the top, visible only when dragging third party app shortcuts.

Keep the OS Up To Date:

NOTE: OS updates can include improvements to battery life, and as such it’s recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check for updates:

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Scroll to and tap “About phone”
  3. Tap “System updates” and verify if a new update is available
  4. If applicable, follow the on-screen steps to download and install available updates (NOTE: the update process will require at least one reboot)
