Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Open Settings
- Scroll to Device and tap Battery
- Tap Menu
- Enable Battery saver
Disable Unused Connectivity Features:
NOTE: By changing your phones connectivity features including Wi-Fi, Hotspot, Bluetooth, and GPS, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen using two fingers
- Tap the Wi-Fi, Location (GPS) and Bluetooth quick toggles to disable the features
- For additional options, open Settings
- Then tap Location > Mode and enable Battery saving
- To disable Hotspot, return to Settings and tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Tap Tethering & mobile hotspot and turn the feature off
Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:
NOTE: In case your phone runs low on battery and you dont have quick access to a wall socket or battery bank, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.
- Open Settings
- Tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Tap Preferred networks > Preferred network type
- Select 2G
Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen using two fingers
- Drag the brightness slider towards the left to decrease luminosity
- Open Settings
- Scroll to Device and tap Display
- You can enable or disable Adaptive brightness
- For timeout options, tap Sleep and select a lower value such as 15 seconds
Change Sync Settings:
NOTE: By changing your accounts sync settings to reduce sync, you might improve battery life in the long run.
- Open Settings
- Scroll to Personal
- Tap Accounts and select the desired account
- Change the available sync options to reduce sync
Minimize Third Party App Usage:
NOTE: Certain third party apps perform regular background processes that can potentially affect battery life even when they are not actively in use. By disabling or removing unused third party apps from the phone, you might improve battery life in the long run.
- Launch Settings
- Scroll to Device
- Tap Apps
- Select All apps from the drop-down menu
- Select the desired app
- To disable the app, tap Force Stop / Disable
- To remove the app from the phone, tap Uninstall
Keep the OS Updated:
NOTE: OS updates can include battery life improvements and thus its recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times.
- Launch Settings
- Scroll to and tap About phone
- Tap System updates
- Check if a new update is available and if applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to download and apply the update. NOTE: the update process will require at least one reboot
