Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Launch Settings
- Scroll to Device
- Tap Battery > Menu
- Enable Battery saver
Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen using two fingers
- Drag the brightness slider towards the left side of the screen to decrease luminosity
- Open Settings for additional options
- Tap Display under Device
- Optionally, enable or disable Adaptive brightness
- Lastly, tap Sleep and select a lower timeout value
Disable Unused Connectivity Features:
NOTE: By disabling the phones connectivity options when unused, including Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Hotspot, and GPS, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen using two fingers
- Tap the Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and Location (GPS) quick toggles to disable the features
- Access Settings for additional options
- Tap Location and select Mode > Battery saving
- To disable Hotspot, return to Settings and tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Tap Tethering & Portable hotspot and turn the feature Off
Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:
NOTE: If your device runs low on battery and you dont have quick access to a wall socket or battery bank, you can preserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.
- Launch Settings
- Tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Tap Mobile networks
- Access Preferred network type and enable 2G
Change Sync Settings to Reduce Sync:
NOTE: By changing your accounts sync options to reduce sync, you may improve battery life in the long run.
- Open the apps drawer and launch Settings
- Scroll to Personal
- Tap Accounts and select an existing account
- Turn the desired sync options Off
Minimize Third Party App Usage:
NOTE: Some third party apps perform regular background processes which can potentially affect battery life even when not actively in use. By disabling or removing unused third party apps from the phone, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Launch Settings
- Scroll to Device
- Tap Apps and make sure All apps is selected in the drop-down menu
- Choose the desired application
- To disable the app, tap Force stop / Disable
- To remove the app, tap Uninstall
Keep the OS updated:
NOTE: Software updates can include improvements to battery life and as such its recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times.
- Open Settings
- Scroll to and tap About phone
- Tap System updates
- Verify if a new update is available. If applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to download and apply the update(s). NOTE: The update process requires at least one reboot
