Enable Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Scroll to “Device”
  3. Tap “Battery”
  4. Tap “Menu” and enable “Battery saver”

Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. Swipe the “Status” bar down on the home screen using two fingers
  2. Drag the brightness slider towards the left to decrease luminosity
  3. Open “Settings”
  4. Tap “Display” under “Device”
  5. Optionally, enable or disable “Adaptive brightness”
  6. Lastly, tap “Sleep” and select a lower screen timeout value

Disable Unused Connectivity Features:

NOTE: By disabling the phone’s connectivity options when not in use, such as Wi-Fi, Hotspot, GPS, and Bluetooth, you can improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Swipe the “Status” bar down on the home screen using two fingers
  2. Tap the “Wi-Fi”, “Location” and “Bluetooth” quick toggles to disable the features
  3. Go to “Settings”
  4. Tap “Location” > “Mode”
  5. Select “Battery saving”
  6. To disable hotspot, return to “Settings” and tap “more” under “Wireless & Networks”
  7. Tap “Tethering & portable hotspot”
  8. Set the feature Off

Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:

NOTE: If your phone runs low on battery and you don’t have quick access to a wall socket or battery bank, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
  3. Tap “Mobile networks”
  4. Go to “Preferred network type”
  5. Enable “2G”

Change Sync Settings to Reduce Sync:

NOTE: By changing your accounts’ sync settings to reduce sync, you can improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Open the apps drawer
  2. Launch “Settings”
  3. Scroll to “Personal”
  4. Tap “Accounts”
  5. Select an existing account and disable the desired sync options

Minimize Third Party App Usage:

NOTE: Some third party apps perform regular background processes that can potentially affect battery life even when not actively in use. By disabling or removing unused third party apps, you can improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Scroll to “Device”
  3. Tap “Apps” and ensure “All apps” is selected
  4. Select the desired application and tap “Disable” / “Force Stop” to disable it
  5. To remove the app, tap “Uninstall”

Keep the OS Up To Date:

NOTE: OS updates can include improvements to battery life, and thus it’s recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To verify for updates:

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Scroll to and tap “About phone”
  3. Tap “System updates” and check if updates are available
  4. If applicable, follow the on-screen steps to download an apply the update (NOTE: the update process will require at least one reboot)
