Back Up & Restore App Data:

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Scroll to “Personal” and tap “Backup & reset”
  3. Enable “Back up my data” to back up app data, passwords, and settings to your Google account
  4. Enable “Automatic restore” to allow app data to be restored automatically when reinstalling the apps or signing in with the backup account

Back Up and Restore Contacts:

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Access “Accounts”
  3. Select an account type and the account you want to use for contact syncing
  4. Enable “Contacts” if necessary
  5. Tap “Menu” > “Sync Now”

NOTE: You can restore contacts the next time you sign in with the Google backup account.

Back Up Media Files on a Windows Computer:

  1. Connect the Android phone to your computer via USB
  2. Enable “File Transfer” / “Media device” at the prompt or from the “Notification” area
  3. Launch the File Explorer on the computer
  4. Copy and transfer the files in the desired backup location on the computer
  5. After the transfer is done, eject the phone storage via system tray and safely disconnect the phone from the USB port

Restore Media Files from a Windows PC:

  1. Connect the Android phone to your computer via USB
  2. Enable “Media device” / “File Transfer” when prompted or from the “Notification” area
  3. Open the File Explorer on the computer and locate the media file backups on the PC
  4. Copy and paste the backup files on the phone storage, preferably in the “Media” directory
  5. After the transfer is complete, eject the phone storage via system tray and safely disconnect the device form the USB cord
