Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Open Settings
- Scroll to Device and tap Battery
- Tap Menu
- Enable Battery saver
Disable Unused Connectivity Features:
NOTE: By disabling the phones connectivity features when unused including Wi-Fi, Hotspot, Bluetooth, and GPS you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen using two fingers
- Tap the Location, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth quick toggles to disable the features
- Open Settings and tap Location for more GPS options
- Tap Mode and enable Battery saving
- To disable hotspot, return to Settings and tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Then tap Tethering & portable hotspot and set the feature off
Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:
NOTE: If your device runs low on battery and you dont have quick access to a battery bank or wall socket, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.
- Open Settings
- Tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Tap Mobile networks
- Go to Preferred network type
- Select 2G
Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
- Drag the brightness slider towards the left to decrease screen brightness
- Next open Settings and scroll to Device
- Tap Display and turn Adaptive brightness ON or OFF
- For timeout options, tap Sleep and select a lower value such as 15 seconds
Minimize Third Party App Usage:
NOTE: Some third party apps perform regular background processes which can potentially affect battery life even when the apps are not actively in use. By disabling or removing unused third party apps from the device, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Launch Settings
- Scroll to Device and tap Apps
- Select All apps from the drop-down menu
- Tap the desired application and press Force Stop to disable it
- To remove the app, tap Uninstall
Change Sync Settings:
NOTE: By changing your accounts sync settings to reduce sync, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Launch Settings
- Scroll to Personal
- Tap Accounts and select the desired account type
- Select an account and change the available settings to reduce sync
Keep the OS Up To Date:
NOTE: OS updates can include improvements to battery life and thus its recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To verify if updates are available:
- Open Settings
- Scroll to and tap About phone > System updates
- Check if a new update is available for download
- If applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to download and apply the update (NOTE: the update process will require at least one reboot)
