Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- Swipe the status bar down on the home screen
- From the notification area, drag the brightness slider towards the left to decrease screen luminosity
- Launch Settings
- Scroll to Device
- Tap Display and optionally, enable or disable adaptive brightness
- Tap Sleep and select a lower value
Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Open Settings
- Scroll to Device
- Tap Battery > Menu
- Enable Battery saver
Disable Unused Connectivity Features:
NOTE: By disabling the phones connectivity features when not in use, such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Hotspot, and GPS, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
- Tap the Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and Location quick toggles to disable the features
- Launch Settings
- Go to Location for GPS options
- Tap Mode and enable Battery saving
- For hotspot options, return to Settings and tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Tap Tethering & portable hotspot and turn the feature Off
Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:
NOTE: If your device runs low on battery and you dont have quick access to a wall socket or battery bank, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.
- Open Settings
- Tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Tap Mobile networks
- Access Preferred network type
- Enable 2G
Minimize Third Party App Usage:
NOTE: Some third party apps perform regular background processes that can potentially affect the phones battery life even when they are not actively in use. As such by disabling or removing unused third party apps you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Launch Settings
- Tap Apps under Device
- Make sure All apps is selected in the drop-down menu at the top
- Select the desired application
- To turn the app off, tap Disable / Force stop
- To remove the app, tap Uninstall to confirm
Reduce Sync:
NOTE: By changing your accounts settings to reduce sync, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Open Settings
- Scroll to Personal
- Tap Accounts
- Select an account type and the account whose sync details you want to change
- Make the desired sync changes to confirm
Keep the OS Up To Date:
NOTE: OS updates can include improvements to battery life and thus its recommended to keep the OS updated at all times. To check for new updates:
- Open Settings
- Scroll down to and tap About phone
- Access System updates
- Verify if a new update is available for download
- If applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to download and apply the update (NOTE: the process will require at least one reboot)
