Enable Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Under “Device”, tap “Battery”
  3. Tap “Menu”
  4. Enable “Battery saver”

Disable Unused Connectivity Features:

NOTE: You can disable the phone’s connectivity features when not actively in use – including Wi-Fi, Hotspot, GPS, and Bluetooth – to improve battery life in the long run.

  1. On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down using two fingers
  2. Tap the “Wi-Fi”, “Location” and “Bluetooth” quick toggles to disable the features
  3. Open “Settings” for more options
  4. Tap “Location” for GPS settings
  5. Tap “Mode” and enable “Battery saving”
  6. For Hotspot options, go back to “Settings” and tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
  7. Tap “Tethering & portable hotspot” and set the feature OFF

Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:

NOTE: If your phone runs low on battery and you don’t have quick access to a battery bank or wall socket, you can conserve the battery until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
  3. Tap “Mobile network” > “Preferred network type”
  4. Enable “2G”

Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. Swipe the status bar down on the home screen
  2. Drag the brightness slider towards the left to decrease luminosity
  3. Open “Settings”
  4. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Display”
  5. Optionally, enable or disable “Adaptive brightness”
  6. For timeout options, tap “Sleep” and select a lower value

Change Sync Settings:

NOTE: You can improve battery life in the long run by changing your accounts’ settings to reduce the amount of data being synced.

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Tap “Accounts” under “Personal”
  3. Select an account type and the account you want to use for contact syncing
  4. Change the available sync settings to reduce sync

Minimize Third Party App Usage:

NOTE: Certain third party applications perform regular background processes that can potentially affect the phone’s battery life even when they are not actively in use. By disabling or removing unused third party apps from the phone you can improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Scroll to “Device”
  3. Tap “Apps”
  4. Select “All apps” from the drop-down menu
  5. Select the desired app
  6. To disable the app, tap “Disable” / “Force Stop”
  7. To remove the app, tap “Uninstall”

Keep the OS Up To Date:

NOTE: OS updates can include improvements to battery life and as such it’s recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check for updates:

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Go to “About phone”
  3. Tap “System updates”
  4. Check if a new update is available for download
  5. If available, follow the on-screen prompts to download and apply the update (NOTE: the update process will require at least one reboot)
