Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Open Settings
- Under Device, tap Battery
- Tap Menu
- Enable Battery saver
Disable Unused Connectivity Features:
NOTE: You can disable the phones connectivity features when not actively in use including Wi-Fi, Hotspot, GPS, and Bluetooth to improve battery life in the long run.
- On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down using two fingers
- Tap the Wi-Fi, Location and Bluetooth quick toggles to disable the features
- Open Settings for more options
- Tap Location for GPS settings
- Tap Mode and enable Battery saving
- For Hotspot options, go back to Settings and tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Tap Tethering & portable hotspot and set the feature OFF
Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:
NOTE: If your phone runs low on battery and you dont have quick access to a battery bank or wall socket, you can conserve the battery until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.
- Launch Settings
- Tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Tap Mobile network > Preferred network type
- Enable 2G
Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- Swipe the status bar down on the home screen
- Drag the brightness slider towards the left to decrease luminosity
- Open Settings
- Scroll to Device and tap Display
- Optionally, enable or disable Adaptive brightness
- For timeout options, tap Sleep and select a lower value
Change Sync Settings:
NOTE: You can improve battery life in the long run by changing your accounts settings to reduce the amount of data being synced.
- Launch Settings
- Tap Accounts under Personal
- Select an account type and the account you want to use for contact syncing
- Change the available sync settings to reduce sync
Minimize Third Party App Usage:
NOTE: Certain third party applications perform regular background processes that can potentially affect the phones battery life even when they are not actively in use. By disabling or removing unused third party apps from the phone you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Open Settings
- Scroll to Device
- Tap Apps
- Select All apps from the drop-down menu
- Select the desired app
- To disable the app, tap Disable / Force Stop
- To remove the app, tap Uninstall
Keep the OS Up To Date:
NOTE: OS updates can include improvements to battery life and as such its recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check for updates:
- Open Settings
- Go to About phone
- Tap System updates
- Check if a new update is available for download
- If available, follow the on-screen prompts to download and apply the update (NOTE: the update process will require at least one reboot)
