Enable Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Battery”
  3. Tap “Menu”
  4. Turn “Battery saver” ON

Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. On the home screen, swipe the “Status” bar down
  2. From the quick toggle area, drag the Brightness towards the left to decrease brightness
  3. Next open “Settings”
  4. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Display”
  5. Optionally, turn “Adaptive brightness” ON or OFF
  6. Tap “Sleep” for timeout options and select a lower value like “15 seconds”

Turn the Phone’s Connectivity Features OFF:

NOTE: By disabling the device’s connectivity features when not actively in use – such as Wi-Fi, GPS, Hotspot, and Bluetooth – you can improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Swipe the “Status” bar down on the home screen
  2. Tap the “Location”, “Bluetooth” and “Wi-Fi” quick toggles to turn the features OFF
  3. Launch “Settings” next
  4. Then scroll to and tap “Location”
  5. Tap “Mode” and enable “Battery saving”
  6. Return to “Settings” for additional options and tap “more’ under “Wireless & Networks”
  7. Tap “Tethering & portable hotspot” and disable the feature

Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:

NOTE: If your phone runs low on battery and you don’t have quick access to a battery bank or wall socket, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Tap “more” under “Wireless & Networks”
  3. Tap “Mobile networks”
  4. Go to “Preferred network type”
  5. Enable “2G”

Change Sync Options:

NOTE: You can reduce the amount of data synced by your apps/accounts in order to improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Scroll to “Personal” and tap “Accounts”
  3. Select an account type
  4. Tap the account whose sync settings you want to change
  5. Disable the desired sync options

Minimize Third party App Usage:

NOTE: Certain third party apps perform regular background processes that can potentially affect the device’s battery life even when the apps are not open in the foreground. Thus you can disable or remove unused third party apps to improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Open “Settings” and scroll to “Device”
  2. Tap “Apps” and make sure “All apps” is selected in the drop-down menu
  3. Select the desired app
  4. To turn the app off, tap “Force Stop”
  5. To remove the app, tap “Uninstall”

Keep the OS Up To Date:

NOTE: software updates can include battery life improvements and thus it’s recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check if new updates are available:

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Go to “About phone”
  3. Tap “System updates”
  4. Verify if a new update is available for download
  5. If applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to download and apply the update (NOTE: the process will require at least one reboot)
