Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Open Settings
- Tap Battery under Device
- Tap Menu
- Enable Battery saver
Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- Swipe the status bar down on the home screen using two fingers
- Drag the brightness slider towards the left side of the screen
- For more options, open Settings
- Scroll to Device and tap Display
- Optionally, turn Adaptive brightness ON or OFF
- For timeout options, tap Sleep and select a lower timeout value like 15 seconds
Disable Unused Connectivity Features:
NOTE: By disabling the phones connectivity features when unused such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, and Hotspot, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Swipe the Status bar down using two fingers
- Tap the Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and Location quick toggles to disable the features
- Launch Settings
- For additional GPS options, tap Location > Mode and enable Battery saving
- To turn hotspot off, return to Settings and tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Tap Tethering & Portable hotspot and disable the feature
Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:
NOTE: If your phone runs low on battery and you dont have quick access to a battery bank or wall socket, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.
- Launch Settings
- Tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Go to Mobile networks
- Tap Preferred network type
- Enable 2G
Change Sync Settings:
NOTE: By changing your accounts sync settings to reduce sync, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Launch Settings
- Scroll to Personal and tap Accounts
- Select an account type and an account
- Change the accounts settings to reduce sync
Minimize Third Party App Usage:
NOTE: Certain third party apps perform regular background processes that can potentially affect battery life even when the apps are not actively in use. You can disable or remove unused third party apps from the phone to improve battery life in the long run.
- Open Settings
- Scroll to Device
- Tap Apps
- Select All apps from the drop-down menu
- Tap Force Stop / Disable to turn the app off, or:
- Tap Uninstall to remove the app form the phone storage
Keep the OS Up To Date:
NOTE: Certain software updates include improvements to battery life and thus its recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check if new updates are available:
- Launch Settings
- Scroll to and tap About phone
- Tap System updates
- Check if a new update is available for download
- If applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to download and apply the update (NOTE: the update process will require at least one reboot)
