Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Launch Settings and scroll to Device
- Tap Battery
- Press Menu
- Enable Battery saver
Disable Unused Connectivity Features:
NOTE: You can disable the phones connectivity features when not in use such as Wi-Fi, Hotspot, GPS, and Bluetooth to avoid unnecessary network scans and improve battery life in the long run.
- On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
- Tap the Location, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi quick toggles to disable the features
- Open Settings and access Location for GPS options
- Next tap Mode and enable Battery saving
- Go back to Settings and tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Disable Tethering & portable hotspot
Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:
NOTE: In case your device runs low on battery and you dont have quick access to a wall socket or battery bank, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.
- Launch Settings
- Tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Access Mobile networks > Preferred network type
- Enable 2G
Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
- Drag the brightness slider towards the left
- For more options, launch Settings
- Tap Display under Device
- Optionally, enable or disable Adaptive brightness
- Tap Sleep for timeout duration and select a lower value
Minimize Third Party App Usage:
NOTE: Some third party apps perform regular background processes that can potentially affect battery life even when they are not actively in us. As such you can disable or remove unused third-party apps to try and improve battery life.
- Launch Settings
- Scroll to Device and tap Apps
- Ensure All apps is selected in the drop-down menu at the top
- Select the desired application
- To disable the app, tap Force Stop
- To remove the app, tap Uninstall
Change Sync Settings:
NOTE: By changing your accounts settings to reduce the amount of data synced by the device, you may improve battery life in the long run.
- Open Settings
- Tap Accounts under Personal
- Select an account type
- Select the desired account to change its sync settings
Keep the OS Updated:
NOTE: OS updates can include improvements to battery life and thus its recommended to keep the OS updated at all times. To check if new updates are available:
- Launch Settings
- Access About phone
- Tap System updates
- Check if a new update is available and if applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to download and install the update (NOTE: the process will require at least one reboot)
