Back Up & Restore App Data:

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Scroll to “Personal” and tap “Backup & reset”
  3. Enable “Back up my data” to back up app data, passwords, and settings to your account
  4. Enable “Automatic Restore” to allow app data, passwords, and settings to be restored automatically the next time you sign in with the backup account or reinstall apps

Back Up & Restore Contacts:

  1. Launch “Contacts”
  2. Go to “Accounts”
  3. Select an account type and the account you want to use for the backup
  4. Ensure “Contacts” is checked
  5. Tap “Menu” > “Sync Now”

NOTE: Contacts can be restored automatically the next time you sign in with the backup account or by syncing them with the device.

Back Up Media Files on a PC:

  1. Connect the Android phone to the computer via USB
  2. Enable “Media device” / “File Transfer” at the prompt or from the Notification area
  3. Launch the File Explorer on the computer
  4. Locate the media files on the phone storage
  5. Copy and paste the files in the desired backup location on the PC
  6. Once the transfer is complete, eject the phone storage via system tray and safely disconnect the device from the USB port

Restore Media Files form a PC:

  1. Connect the Android device to the computer via USB
  2. Enable “File Transfer” / “Media device” when prompted or from the Notification area
  3. Launch the File Explorer on the computer
  4. Locate the media file backups on the computer
  5. Copy and paste the backup files to the phone storage, preferably in the “Media” directory
  6. Once done, eject the phone storage via system tray and safely disconnect the device from the USB port
