Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Launch Settings
- Scroll to Device
- Tap Battery > Menu
- Enable Battery saver
Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
- Drag the brightness slider towards the left to decrease luminosity
- Launch Settings
- Scroll to Device
- Optionally, enable or disable Adaptive brightness
- For timeout options, tap Sleep and select a lower value
Disable Unused Connectivity Features:
NOTE: You can turn the phones connectivity features OFF when they are not actively in use including Wi-Fi, GPS, Hotspot, and Bluetooth in order to avoid unnecessary network scans and improve battery life in the long run.
- On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
- Tap the Wi-Fi, Location and Bluetooth quick toggles to turn the features OFF
- Launch Settings
- Tap Mode and enable Battery saving
- Return to Settings and tap more under Wireless & Networks
- Tap Tethering & mobile hotspot and turn the feature OFF
Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:
NOTE: If your device runs low on battery and you dont have quick access to a battery bank or wall socket, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.
- Launch Settings
- Tap More under Wireless & networks
- Go to Mobile networks
- Access Preferred network type
- Enable 2G
Minimize Third Party App Usage:
NOTE: Some third-party apps perform regular background processes that can potentially affect the devices battery life even when the apps are not actively in use. By disabling or removing unused third-party apps from the device you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Go to Settings
- Tap Apps under Device
- Ensure All apps is selected from the drop-down menu
- Select the desired application
- To disable the app, tap Force stop / Disable
- To remove the app from the phone, tap Uninstall
Change Sync Settings:
NOTE: You can change your accounts settings to reduce sync and improve battery life in the long run.
- Open Settings
- Scroll to Personal
- Tap Accounts
- Select the desired account
- Change the available settings to reduce sync
Keep the OS Updated:
NOTE: OS updates can include improvements to battery life and as such its recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check for updates:
- Open Settings
- Access About phone
- Tap System updates
- Check if a new update is available for download
- If applicable, follow the on-screen steps to apply the update (NOTE: this will require at least one reboot)
