Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Open Settings
- Go to Device > Battery
- Tap Menu
- Enable Battery saver
Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
- In the quick toggle/notification area, drag the brightness slider towards the left
- For additional options launch Settings
- Go to Display and optionally, turn adaptive brightness ON or OFF
- For timeout options tap Sleep and select a lower value such as 15 seconds
Disable Unused Connectivity Features:
NOTE: By disabling the devices connectivity features when not actively in use, including Wi-Fi, Hotspot, Bluetooth, and GPS, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Swipe the status bar down on the home screen
- Tap the Wi-Fi, Location and Bluetooth quick toggles to turn these features OFF
- Next, open Settings
- Access Location for GPS options
- Tap Mode
- Enable Battery saving
- For hotspot options, return to Settings and tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Tap Tethering & portable hotspot and set the feature OFF
Temporarily Switch to 2G Networks:
NOTE: If your phone runs low on battery and you dont have quick access to a battery bank or wall socket, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.
- Launch Settings
- Tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Tap Mobile networks
- Go to Preferred network type
- Enable 2G
Minimize Third Party App Usage:
NOTE: Some third-party applications perform regular background processes that can potentially affect the devices battery performance even when not actively in use. By disabling or removing unused third party apps form the phone, you may improve battery life in the long run.
- Open Settings
- Tap Apps under Device
- Ensure All apps is selected in the drop-down menu
- Select the desired app
- To disable the app, tap Disable / Force Stop
- To remove the app from the phone, tap Uninstall
Reduce Sync:
NOTE: You can change your accounts sync settings to reduce sync and improve battery life in the long run.
- Launch Settings
- Scroll to Personal
- Tap Accounts and select an account type
- Select the desired account and change its settings to reduce sync
Keep the OS Updated:
NOTE: OS updates can include battery life improvements and thus its recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check for updates:
- Launch Settings
- Scroll to and tap About phone
- Go to System updates
- Check if a new update is available for download
- If applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to download and apply the update (NOTE: the update process will require at least one reboot)
