Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
- Drag the brightness slider towards the left to decrease luminosity
- Open Settings for more options
- Go to Display and optionally, turn Adaptive brightness ON or OFF
- Tap Sleep for timeout options and select a lower value such as 15 seconds
Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Launch Settings
- Scroll to Device
- Tap Battery
- Press Menu
- Enable Battery saver
Disable Unused Connectivity Features:
NOTE: By disabling the phones connectivity features when not actively in use including Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Hotspot and GPS, you can avoid unnecessary network scans and conserve battery life in the long run.
- Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
- Tap Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and Location quick toggles to disable these features
- Open Settings
- Scroll to and access Location > Mode and enable Battery saving
- Return to Settings
- Tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Tap Tethering & portable hotspot and disable the feature
Temporarily Switch to 2G Networks:
NOTE: If your device runs low on battery and you dont have quick access to a battery bank or wall socket, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.
- Launch Settings
- Tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Tap Mobile networks
- Access Preferred network type
- Enable 2G
Minimize Third Party App Usage:
NOTE: Some third-party apps perform regular background processes that can potentially affect the devices battery life even when not actively in use. By disabling or removing unused third-party apps from the phone, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Open Settings
- Under Device tap Apps
- Ensure All apps is checked in the drop-down menu at the top
- Select the desired application
- Tap Force Stop / Disable to turn the app OFF
- To remove the app, tap Uninstall
Change Sync Settings:
NOTE: You can decrease the amount of data synced by your accounts/apps to improve battery life in the long run. To do this:
- Open Settings
- Go to Accounts
- Select an account type
- Select the desired account and change the available sync settings as desired
Keep the OS Updated:
NOTE: OS updates can improve battery life and thus its recommended to keep the OS updated at all times. To check for updates:
- Launch Settings
- Scroll to and tap About phone
- Tap System updates
- Check if a new update is available for download
- If applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to download and install the update (NOTE: the process will require at least one reboot)
