Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
  2. In the quick toggle area, drag the brightness slider towards the left
  3. Open “Settings” for additional options
  4. Tap “Display” and optionally, turn “Adaptive brightness” ON or OFF
  5. For timeout settings, tap “Sleep”
  6. Select a lower value such as “15 seconds”

Enable Battery Saving:

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Go to “Device”
  3. Tap “Battery” > “Menu”
  4. Enable “Battery saver”

Disable Unused Connectivity Features:

NOTE: You can disable the phone’s connectivity features when not actively in use – such as Hotspot, Wi-Fi, GPS, and Bluetooth – to avoid unnecessary network scans and conserve battery life.

  1. On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
  2. From the quick toggle area, tap the “Wi-Fi”, “Location” and “Bluetooth” quick toggles to disable the features
  3. Launch “Settings” for additional options
  4. Tap “Location” for GPS settings
  5. Tap “Mode” and enable “Battery saving”
  6. For Hotspot options go back to “Settings” and tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
  7. Tap “Tethering & Portable hotspot” and turn the feature OFF

Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:

NOTE: In case your device runs low on battery and you don’t have quick access to a battery bank or wall socket, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
  3. Tap “Mobile networks”
  4. Access “Preferred network type” and enable “2G”

Minimize Third-Party App Usage:

NOTE: Some third-party applications perform regular background tasks that can potentially affect the battery life even when the apps are not actively in use. Thus, by disabling or removing unused third-party apps you can improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Go to “Apps”
  3. Make sure “All apps” is selected in the drop-down menu
  4. Tap the desired application
  5. To disable the app, tap “Disable” / “Force Stop”
  6. To remove the app from the phone storage, tap “Uninstall”

Reduce Sync:

NOTE: By changing your accounts’ settings to reduce sync you may improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Go to “Personal”
  3. Tap “Accounts”
  4. Select an account type
  5. Tap the desired account and change the available settings to reduce sync as desired

Keep the OS Updated:

NOTE: OS updates can improve battery life and thus it’s recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check for new updates:

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Scroll down to and access “About phone”
  3. Go to “System updates”
  4. Verify if a new update is available
  5. If applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to complete the update. (NOTE: the process will require you to reboot the device at least once)
