Enable Battery Saving:
- Launch Settings
- Access Device
- Go to Battery and tap Menu
- Enable Battery saver
Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- Open Settings
- Go to Display and drag the brightness slider towards the left
- Optionally, you can enable or disable Adaptive brightness
- For timeout settings, tap Sleep and select a lower value
Turn the Connectivity Features OFF:
NOTE: You can turn the phones connectivity features off when not actively in use including Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Hotspot, and GPS to avoid unnecessary network scans and potentially improve battery life in the long run.
- Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
- From the quick toggle area, tap the Wi-Fi, Location (GPS) and Bluetooth quick toggles to turn these features off
- Next open Settings and go to Location for more settings
- Tap Mode and enable Battery saving
- Return to Settings and tap More under Wireless & Networks for hotspot options
- Disable Tethering & portable hotspot
Temporarily Switch to 2G:
NOTE: If your phone runs low on battery and you dont have access to a wall socket or battery bank, you can conserve the devices battery until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.
- Go to Settings
- Tap more under Wireless & Networks
- Access Mobile networks
- Go to Preferred network type and enable 2G
Minimize Sync:
NOTE: You can change your accounts settings to reduce sync and potentially improve battery life.
- Go to Settings
- Access Accounts
- Select an account type and an account
- Change the available settings as desired in order to reduce sync
Minimize Third-Party App Usage:
NOTE: Certain third-party apps perform regular background processes that can potentially affect the devices battery life even when the apps are not actively in use. Thus you can remove or disable unused third-party apps from the device in order to improve battery life in the long run.
- Launch Settings
- Tap Apps
- Make sure All apps is selected
- Tap the app you want to remove or turn off
- To disable the app, tap Force Stop / Disable
- To remove the app from the phone, tap Uninstall
Keep the OS Up To Date:
NOTE: OS updates can include improvements to battery life and thus its recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check for updates:
- Launch Settings
- Scroll to and tap About phone
- Access System updates
- Check if a new update is available
- If applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to download and apply the update (the update process will require you to reboot the device at least once)
