Enable Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Go to “Battery”
  3. Tap “menu” and enable “Battery saver”

Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Settings:

  1. Swipe the Status bar on the home screen and drag the brightness slider towards the left
  2. Open “Settings” for more options
  3. Go to “Device” > “Display”
  4. Optionally you can enable or disable “Adaptive brightness”
  5. For timeout settings, tap “Sleep” and select a lower value

Disable Unused Connectivity Features:

NOTE: You can disable the phone’s connectivity features when not actively in use in order to avoid unnecessary network scans and potentially improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
  2. Tap the “Wi-Fi”, “Location” and “Bluetooth” quick toggles to disable these features
  3. Open “Settings”
  4. Go to “Location” and tap “mode”
  5. Enable “Battery saving”
  6. To disable hotspot, return to “Settings” and tap “more” under “Wireless & Networks”
  7. Go to “Tethering & portable hotspot” and disable the feature

Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:

NOTE: If your device runs low on battery and you can’t quickly recharge it, you can conserve energy until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.

  1. Access “Settings”
  2. Tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
  3. Go to “Mobile networks”
  4. Tap “Preferred network type”
  5. Enable “2G”

Minimize Third-Party App Usage:

NOTE: Some third-party apps perform regular background processes and this can potentially affect battery life even when the apps are not in use. You can disable or remove unused apps to try and improve battery life.

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Access “Apps” and ensure you’re viewing “All apps”
  3. Select the desired application
  4. Tap “Disable” or “Force Stop” to turn the app off
  5. To remove the app, tap “Uninstall”

Change Sync Settings:

NOTE: You can try to improve battery life by lowering the amount of data synced by your accounts or apps.

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Go to “Accounts”
  3. Select an account type and the desired account
  4. Change the available settings to reduce sync as desired

Keep the OS Updated:

NOTE: OS updates can improve battery life and thus it’s recommended to keep the software updated at all times. To check for updates:

  1. Go to “Settings”
  2. Access “About phone”
  3. Tap “System updates”
  4. Check if a new update is available
  5. If applicable, follow the on-screen steps to download and apply the update (NOTE: the process will require you to reboot the device at least once)
