Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Go to “Display”
  3. Drag the slider towards the left side to decrease brightness
  4. Optionally you can turn “Adaptive brightness” ON or OFF
  5. For timeout options, tap “Sleep” and select a lower timeout value such as “15 seconds”


Enable Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Go to“Settings”
  2. Tap “Device”
  3. Access “Battery” and tap “Menu”
  4. Enable “Battery saver”

Disable Unused Connectivity Features:

NOTE: You can disable the phone’s connectivity features when not actively in use, such as Bluetooth, Hotspot, Wi-Fi, and GPS, to avoid unnecessary network scans and potentially improve battery life in the long run.

  1. On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
  2. Tap the “Wi-Fi”, “Bluetooth” and “Location” (GPS) quick toggles to turn the features off
  3. Open “Settings” for more options
  4. Go to “Location” and tap “mode” > “Battery saving”
  5. Return to “Settings” and tap “more” under “Wireless & Networks”
  6. Access “Tethering & portable hotspot” and turn the feature Off

Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:

NOTE: If your phone runs low on battery and you don’t have quick access to a battery bank or wall socket, you can conserve energy until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.

  1. Go to “Settings”
  2. Tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
  3. Go to “Mobile networks” > “Preferred network type”
  4. Enable “2G”

Reduce Account Sync:

NOTE: You can change your accounts’ settings to reduce sync and potentially improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Go to “Settings”
  2. Access “Accounts”
  3. Select an account type and the desired account
  4. Change the available settings to decrease sync

Minimize Third-Party App Usage:

NOTE: Some third-party apps perform regular background processes which can potentially affect battery life even when the apps are not actively in use. By disabling or removing unused third-party apps, you may improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Access “Apps” and ensure you’re viewing “All apps”
  3. Select the desired app
  4. Tap “Force Stop” / “Disable” to turn the app off, or:
  5. Tap “Uninstall” to remove the app

Keep the OS Updated:

NOTE: OS updates can improve battery life and it’s recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check if new updates are available:

  1. Go to “Settings”
  2. Access “About phone” > “System updates”
  3. Verify if a new update is available
  4. If applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to complete the process. Keep in mind that OS updates will require you to reboot the phone at least once
