Enable Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Go to “Device”
  3. Tap “Battery”
  4. Tap “Menu” and enable “Battery saver”

Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
  2. Drag the brightness slider towards the left in the quick toggle area to decrease brightness
  3. Open “Settings” and go to “Display”
  4. Enable or disable “Adaptive brightness”
  5. For timeout options, tap “Sleep” and select a lower timeout value

Disable Unused Connectivity Features:

NOTE: By disabling the phone’s connectivity features when not actively in use, including Wi-Fi, Hotspot, GPS, and Bluetooth, you can avoid unnecessary network scans and improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
  2. From the quick toggle area, tap the “Wi-Fi”, “Bluetooth” and “Location” quick toggles to disable the features
  3. Open “Settings”
  4. Go to “Location” for GPS options
  5. Tap “Mode” and enable “Battery saving”
  6. Return to “Settings” and tap “more” under “Wireless & Networks”
  7. Tap “Tethering & portable hotspot” and disable the feature

Temporarily Switch to 2G Networks:

NOTE: If your phone runs low on battery and you don’t have quick access to a battery bank or wall socket, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
  3. Tap “Mobile networks”
  4. Tap “Preferred network type”
  5. Enable “2G”

Reduce Sync:

NOTE: You can change your account’s settings to reduce sync and improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Go to “Settings”
  2. Access “Accounts” under “Personal”
  3. Select an account type and the desired account
  4. Change the available settings to reduce sync

Minimize Third-Party App Usage:

NOTE: Certain third-party apps perform regular background processes that can potentially affect the device’s battery life even when not actively in use. By removing or disabling unused third-party apps from the phone, you may improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Go to “Apps” and switch to “All apps” if necessary
  3. Select the desired app
  4. To disable the app, tap “Force Stop” / “Disable”
  5. To remove the app, tap “Uninstall”

Keep the OS Up To Date:

NOTE: OS updates include improvements to battery life and thus it’s recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check for updates:

  1. Go to “Settings”
  2. Access “About phone” > “System updates”
  3. Check if new updates are available
  4. If applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to download and apply the update (NOTE: the update will require you to reboot the device at least once)
