Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
- Drag the brightness slider towards the left to decrease luminosity
- Launch Settings and go to Device
- Tap Display
- Optionally, turn Adaptive brightness ON or OFF
- For timeout options, go to Sleep and select a lower value such as 15 seconds
Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Open Settings
- Go to Device
- Tap Battery > Menu
- Enable Battery saver
Disable Unused Connectivity Features:
NOTE: You can disable the phones connectivity features when not actively in use, such as Wi-Fi, Hotspot, Bluetooth, and GPS to improve battery life in the long run.
- On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
- Tap the Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and Location quick toggles to disable the features
- Next open Settings
- Go to Location, tap Mode and enable Battery saving
- For hotspot settings, return to Settings and tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Tap Tethering & Portable hotspot and disable the feature
Temporarily Switch to 2G Networks:
NOTE: If your device runs low on battery and you dont have quick access to a battery bank or wall socket, you can conserve energy until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.
- Launch Settings
- Tap more under Wireless & Networks
- Tap Mobile networks > Preferred network type
- Turn 2G ON
Minimize Third-Party App Usage:
NOTE: Some third-party apps perform regular background processes that can potentially affect the devices battery life even when not actively in use. You can disable or remove these unused third-party apps to try and improve battery life.
- Launch Settings
- Go to Apps
- Select All apps if necessary
- Tap the desired application
- Tap Force Stop / Disable
- To remove the app, tap Uninstall
Change Sync Settings:
NOTE: You can change your accounts settings to reduce sync and potentially improve battery life in the long run.
- Go to Settings > Accounts
- Select an account type and the desired account
- Change the available settings to reduce sync as desired
Keep the OS Updated:
NOTE: OS updates can improve battery life and thus its recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check for updates:
- Launch Settings
- Go to About phone
- Tap System updates
- Check if new updates are available and if applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to download and apply the update (the process will require you to reboot the device at least once)
