Enable Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Access “Device”
  3. Tap “Battery”
  4. Tap “Menu” and enable “Battery saver”

Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
  2. Drag the brightness slider towards the left to decrease luminosity
  3. Launch “Settings”
  4. Access “Device”
  5. Tap “Display”
  6. Optionally, turn “Adaptive brightness” ON or OFF
  7. For timeout options, go to “Sleep” and select a lower value like “15 seconds”

Disable Unused Connectivity Features:

NOTE: By disabling the phone’s connectivity features when they are not actively in use, such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, and Hotspot, you can avoid unnecessary network scans and potentially improve battery life in the long run.

  1. On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
  2. Tap the “Wi-Fi”, “Bluetooth” and “Location” quick toggles to turn the features Off
  3. Launch “Settings”
  4. Go to “Location” for more GPS options, tap “Mode” and enable “Battery saving”
  5. For Hotspot options, return to “Settings” and tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
  6. Tap “Tethering & Portable hotspot” and disable the feature

Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:

NOTE: If your device runs low on battery and you don’t have quick access to a wall socket or battery bank, you can conserve energy until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.

  1. Access “Settings”
  2. Tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
  3. Tap “Mobile networks” > “preferred network type”
  4. Enable “2G”

Minimize Third-Party App Usage:

NOTE: Certain third-party apps perform regular background processes that can potentially affect the device’s battery life even when the apps are not in use. You can disable or remove unused third-party apps to try and improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Access “Settings”
  2. Go to “Apps”
  3. If necessary, access “All apps”
  4. Select the desired app and tap “Disable” or “Force Stop”
  5. To remove the app, tap “Uninstall” instead

Change Sync Settings:

NOTE: You can change your accounts’ settings to reduce sync and potentially improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Access “Settings”
  2. Tap “Accounts”
  3. Select an account type
  4. Select the desired account and change the available settings to reduce sync as desired

Keep the OS Updated:

NOTE: OS updates can improve battery life and it’s recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check for updates:

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Access “About phone”
  3. Tap “System updates”
  4. Check if new updates are available. If applicable, follow the on-screen steps to download and apply the update (the update process will require at least one reboot)
